About

me 2013
Cynthia Rinear Bethune was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and raised on a homestead near town. That sounds more rustic than it really was, as by her time, the family had electricity, running water, and even a telephone.
Almost as soon as she became an avid reader in her early teens, she wanted to write. After “inheriting” the old house and several acres of land when she was 17, priorities became practical and she had to work. Writing became a dream and an occasional hobby, and it was not until she was home raising her two children that she began to write for publication. After freelance feature writing for several years, and then inadvertently ghostwriting the memoir of a local politician, she turned back to writing fiction.
Since publishing The Family Tree in December of 2016, she has retired from her day job and six months later her novel, Brendan’s Cross, was published on May 31, 2018. She is now working on a sequel to The Family Tree called The Rowan Tree, and is in the early stages of planning another novel of contemporary/historical fiction called You Belong to Me.
